HOARD™ RELEASED ON PLAYSTATION®NETWORK IN NORTH AMERICA
Digital Download Sells for $14.99, Delivers Unique Blend of Action and Strategy
VANCOUVER, British Columbia — November 2, 2010 — Today, HOARD™ will be released for sale for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. The game will be downloadable via the PlayStation Network in North America. A European release is planned for December.
HOARD™ is Big Sandwich Games’ hotly anticipated game where up to four players at a time compete as dragons, burning medieval villages, kidnapping princesses, roasting thieves, and otherwise trying to collect as much gold as possible for their lairs.
“HOARD™ plays like a cross between Geometry Wars and a RTS (real-time strategy) in reverse,” says Tyler Sigman, Design Director. “It was designed from the ground up to appeal to a large mix of gamers by combining twitch arcade action with deep and rewarding strategy.”
Glenn Barnes, Big Sandwich’s President and Creative Director, agrees. “In a normal RTS, you work to build up strong defenses over time. In HOARD™, you fly around as a dragon and tear them down! Castles, farms, wagons, archers, knights, giants, and more—they’ll all fall prey to your fiery breath!”
HOARDTM delivers competitive and cooperative gameplay experiences across over 35 unique maps and 4 game modes. Players can group up in any combination of local (“couch”) and online joining, which makes HOARDTM particularly unique. Each level has leaderboard support, and the game offers 11 Trophies and over 100 accomplishment badges to motivate replay.
Big Sandwich Games has already confirmed downloadable content is in the works for HOARDTM, and can be expected in the next few months. “We have a bunch of new maps, some new units, and even a new game mode already planned out,” says Sigman. Versions for PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system, PC, and Mac are also being developed.
“Up until now, we’ve been the undisputed world champions of HOARD™,” quipped Barnes. “But we’re looking forward to passing the torch.”
